More than 30 telecoms employees started the new Telia Business School coaching programme, which aims to increase business leadership skills and understanding of key success factors for the future. The programme is run in partnership with Telia and Hanken & SSE Executive Education.
"Telia Business School is an excellent example of a strategic choice made by pioneering companies. The coaching programme is a significant contribution to the development of the organisation's knowledge capital and the creation of a successful future. It supports the development of both individual skills and organisational capabilities," says Nando Malmelin, Programme Director of Telia Business School, PhD in Political Science, Hanken & SSE.
Telia Business School aims to strengthen the participants' ability to lead business and seize new opportunities. In practice, this means, for example, future literacy, strategic thinking, profitability and growth management. Another important aspect of the programme is the open discussion and creative interaction between the participants.

"We want to systematically increase the management skills of Telia employees and offer interesting opportunities to learn new things. This programme provides a broad overview of critical areas of our business and the operating environment, and helps us to develop our leadership to drive responsible growth," says Heli Partanen, CEO of Telia.
"In these times of radical uncertainty and constant change, it is important to develop an understanding of the drivers of change in the business environment and the prospects for the future. For example, strategic foresight and scenario building approaches support the development of future business ideas," says Malmelin.
Course participants get to challenge themselves and Telia - "the coaching helps them to make bold, new decisions"
One of the course participants is Sirkka Kokko, who has a 24-year career at Telia in a variety of roles.
"As a frontline person, my responsibility is to promote Telia's strategy and values in everyday life, so that what we do is always future-oriented. This coaching will enable me to deepen my understanding of my own organisation and the situation of external stakeholders, our objectives and especially the needs of our customers. The coaching also opens up the impact of our own actions and decisions from a broader perspective, and helps us to make bold new decisions that support our strategy," says Sirkka, responsible for Consumer Sales Support at Telia.

"One of the reasons why I applied for the Telia Business School was to gain a broader perspective on the business and management of a large company like Telia, and thus to be able to grow and develop my career in many different ways in the future. Participants come from all over Telia, which allows for a mix of very different perspectives and the formation of internal networks that are important for success. I was hoping for a challenging coaching that would concretely challenge thinking from different perspectives and bring new theories to everyday life. It has been nice to see that this coaching programme differs from many others in exactly these respects," says Samu Viisteensaari, Sales Director at Telia.
