The collaboration starting in December, aims to reduce the loneliness that older people experience and, at the same time, offer employment opportunities to young people.
Gubbe is a new type of non-medical elderly service that keeps the elderly active, helps with everyday chores and provides security for the entire family of the older person. The young people act as a friend, a Gubbe, for lonely elderly and visit and support them weekly, sometimes just by being present, listening and talking. At the same time, young people are offered contact with working life and meaningful work, and so making it possible to prevent youth unemployment on a practical level.
"Our impact extends from the young students through our owner schools and trainee programme to our support of organisations and individuals in their work and career. And now, through the partnership with Gubbe, we can support also older people. The elderly have given us so much and influenced our society, but many are lonely today, which is why it is important to support them with a happy and active retirement", says Marc Hinnenberg, CEO at Hanken & SSE Executive Education.
